I’d like to share a simple story.

Like I’ve mentioned, I have been really displeased with 5th gen of Pokemon in the past and I intented to stay away from it. Of course, being a Pokemon fan I was still exposed a lot of stuff from the Black and White games. One thing that always managed to catch my eyes were these “Subway Masters”. Again, I’m basing a lot on impressions and I kind of intentionally skipped them in my speedrun of White, but their designs are so wicked. Granted, some of this fascination is due to how silly the designs really are, but nevertheless, they managed to scare and intrest me at the same time.

I’ve seen a lot of people taking advantage of their serious-but-playful design creating a lot of creative art, but last night I found one artist that stopped me to my tracks.

The way they handled the characters, and the incredibly varied and genious ways of playing with the design resulted as the most inspiring pieces of art I’ve seen in a long time. The simplistic sketches possessed such power that silenced me and made me just stare in awe. In one go I went through their whole profile, ignoring that I should have gone to bed already. I was at loss, enchanted… These pictures have inspired me with their spirit and attitude, and while the world is full of wonderful art, it’s extraordinary that I meet an artist that leaves me this stupefied.

I’m not really good with words, but I’d like to share a few about this gameI completed it yesterday. I’ve had a demo lingering on my Xbox HDD for a considerable while but I had never actually tried it. Then one day, I came across a new copy of this game for PS3 for only 10€ and thought now’s my chance to get acquiantanced with it.And it was definately worth it. I wasn’t mad for it, but I certainly was enchanted by it. This game has the most brilliant, marvellous, and rewarding cutscenes and character portrayals I’ve ever seen in any video game, they were really pushing the boundaries of perfection. One has to search far and wide for more professionally written characters, Ninja Theory has had a big name working on the cutscenes, Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings, King Kong). No game has been this emotionally rewarding to play and watch the characters interact with eachother, not to mention how perfect the voice actors’ roles were. All this is crowned with the most beautiful game soundtracks I’ve heard in a while, all music was created by Nitin Sawhney. The action was intense in most parts but afterwards when listening to the tracks I realized how amazing they were. Go on, give it a listen, and here’s a more calmer one.Despite all the good stuff, this game was not perfect, it felt a little mediocre. While the plot was certainly well built, it was not that unique. This game gives the player a lot, it’s very rewarding to play. The visuals are stunning, but I got a little fed up with looking the same kind of broken stuff and pipes chapter after chapter. Sure, it’s a post-postapocalyptic world but a little variety wouldn’t have hurted. Especially in the enemy sector, I had had enough of the mechs by chapter 7. I wished there would have been some other kinds of enemies to play with.Speaking about mechs, I think I jizzed a little when I saw the Leviathan.

A fancy-like Yamask and a dragon… An odd mixture. The dragon is a member of a made-up species of mine.

Sketches, the dragon belong to me
Yamask belongs to Nintendo etc.
